Drop Camp Hunts

The Beautiful CastlesOur drop camps are the best in the west and are located in excellent big game country. You will be hunting elk in their living room, a living room that can sometimes be several square miles in size. They may be right outside your tent flap or in the next drainage over. That is why we highly recommend these camps for experienced hunters and outdoorsmen, who don’t require guides or cooks, and are prepared both mentally and physically for the challenges of camping and the rigors of hunting on foot.

A 12x14 Montana Canvas wall tent is your home away from home, and can accommodate up to four hunters. We do not mix groups. The kitchen area is equipped with a 2 burner propane stove, pots, pans, and utensils. Plenty of propane, a water purifier and cooler. Comfortable cots and foam pads in the sleeping area help provide a good nights rest after a hard day of hunting. Wood burning Cylinder Stoves are used to heat the tent with plenty of firewood available for fuel. We take you in and drop you off There is even a latrine tent with a real toilet seat. We’ve provided all the camping equipment you’ll need for the DO-IT-YOURSELF HUNT. All you’ll need to bring is your weapon, sleeping bag, personal gear, and food. Meals are not provided, so your group will need to decide on a menu that best suits your tastes and appetites. We require Mountain House type freeze dried meals.

We will pack you and your gear in and out on our strong and gentle mountain horses, but no horses will be provided for your hunt. A two-way radio will enable you to contact our base camp when game is in camp and ready to be packed out. Game must be de-boned for quicker cooling and easier packing. A heavy duty meat packing frame is furnished in camp.

PACK SLEEPING BAG, GEAR, AND FOOD NOT TO EXCEED 70 POUNDS IN 36”X16” WATERPROOF DUFFLE BAGS (NO WHEELS), OR IN HEAVY WEIGHT PLASTIC BAGS PUT IN GEAR BAGS. PLACE SLEEPING BAG, FOOD, AND GEAR INSIDE PLASTIC BAG, ROLL TOP AND CLOSE BAG. YOUR GEAR IS NOW WATERPROOF.

HARD SIDED COOLERS, ICE, PLASTIC TOTES, CARDBOARD BOXES, GLASS BOTTLES, AND CANNED GOODS WILL NOT BE PACKED IN!!!!!!
